Honorable Representatives of Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch

We write to you in deepest respect and appreciation for your dedication to
upholding the principles of human rights.

Today, we write to you in regards to the death sentence handed down to Saeed
Masouri on June 9, 2002 in Tehran from the Islamic Revolutionary Court Branch 6
of the Islamic Republic. The only crime committed by Saeed Masouri was the
freedom of thought, which is one of the most fundamental human rights.

This death sentence handed down by the Islamic Revolutionary Court is in
absolute defiance towards the UN Declaration on Human Rights in which everyone
human being is entitled to the freedom of thought and freedom of expression.
Furthermore, Saeed Masouri was denied the right to a legitimate lawyer for his
court case. Again, the Islamic Republic is defying the UN Declaration on Human
Rights in which an accused party is entitled to a fair and public hearing by an
independent and impartial tribunal, in the determination if his rights and
obligations of any criminal charge against him.

Therefore, due to the Islamic Republic's absolute defiance and opposition
towards the UN Declaration on Human Rights, the Islamic Republic must receive
immediate condemnation and the death sentence of Saeed Masouri must come to an
immediate and unconditional halt.

Saeed Masouri has an emigrant status in Norway (Case # 3032) since 1988. In his
visit to Iran, Saeed Masouri was arrested and imprisoned and subjected to cruel
and inhuman treatment in the Islamic prison cells.

We condemn the Islamic Republic in regards to their opposition towards the UN
Declaration on Human Rights. The arrest and imprisonment of Saeed Masouri is
absolutely unjust and a crime against Humanity.

We request from Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch immediate action
against the death sentence of Saeed Masouri, and an immediate to the Islamic
Republic's crime against Humanity. If there is any justice in this world, then
we believe that Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch will warmly grant
our request.

سعيد ماسوري، زندانی سياسی که به اتهام هواداری از مجاهدين، بعد از چهار سال زندان انفرادی و بند عمومي، هم اکنون بيش از سه ماه است که در زندان انفرادی به سر می برد. در اين مدت، سعيد زير شديدترين فشارها، برای همکاری و تقاضای عفو از رهبر جمهوری اسلامی بوده است. پرونده سعيد، يکی از مهمترين و سرشناسترين پرونده های زندانيان سياسی در جهان است. سازمان عفو بين الملل، کميته حقوق بشر پارلمان اروپا، و آلمان و همه کشورهای اروپايي، پرونده سعيد را دنبال می کنند. جمهوری اسلامی حقوق انسانی سعيد را در اين سه ماه زير پا قرار داده است. نگهداشتن وی در انفرادي، فشار به وی برای تقاضای عفو، نداشتن امکانات بهداشتي، پوشيدن لباس زندان به وي، قطع حق تلفن وی به منزل، قطع ملاقاتها، به مدت 50 روز، ملاقات های کوتاه 5و 15 دقيقه ای بعد از، تلاش بسيار خانواده، اين گوشه ای اززير پا گذاشتن حقوق انساني، سعيد است.

خانواده سعيد، از شما مردم و سازمانهای مدافع حقوق بشر، تقاضا دارد که از خواست ايشان، مبنی بر برگردان سعيد به سلول سابقش، از سر گرفتن ملاقات هفتگی و حق وی برای تلفن و همچنين، تعين تکليف وی و اعلام حکم وی به او و خانواده، حمايت کنيد. اين يک خواست انسانی است. اين حق سعيد است که بداند به چه جرمی و به چه حبسي، محکوم است. در اين مدت، وکيل سعيد، آقای سلطاني، اجازه نداشته است که وی را ملاقات کند، خانواده سعيد خواستار اين هستند که وکيل سعيد اجازه داشته باشد، با وی ملاقات کند وهمچنين به پرونده سعيد، دسترسی داشته باشد.

برای دفاع از حقوق انسانی سعيد و برای دفاع از خواستهای خانواده سعيد، اين پيتيشن ار امضا کنيد

سعید ماسوری زندانی سیاسی است که به مدت چهار سال است، در زندان اوین، زیز تیغ حکم اعدام است. سعید را بعد از اعتصاب غذای زندانیان در اوین، به انفرادی انتقال داده اند. به مدت بیش از سه ماه است که سعید در انفرادی به سر می برد. بعد از تلاشهای بسیار خانواده، بلاخره بعد از 50 روز بی خبری، به مادر سعید اجازه دادند که وی را فقط به مدت 5 دقیقه، ملاقات کرد. در این مدت هیچ گونه جوابی به سوالهای خانواده که چرا سعید را به انفرادی، منتقل کردند، چرا ملاقاتها و تلفنهای وی را قطع کردند، چرا لباسها و وسایل بهداشت که خانواده م میآورند، به سعید نمی دهند، داده نشد. خود سعید در همین آخرین ملاقات خود به مادرش گفته، از اینها می پرسم، برای چی اینجام؟ می گویند که خودت بهتر می دانی، می پرسم، به خاطر اعتصاب، می گویند،نه، و خلاصه هر سوالی می کنم، جوابی نمی گیرم و بعد از سه ما، هنوز نفهیدم که چرا در انفرادی هستم. مادر سعید بعد از این ملاقات اظهار داشت که سعید را هر دفعه ; ضعیفتر از دفعه قبل، می بینم، نگرانم که دارند، سعید را زره زره می کشند. مادر سعید به حق نگران جان سعید است. جمهوری اسلامی شهامت اعدام سعید را ندارد. از سعید به خاطر نقشش در اعتثصاب غذای زندانیان و افشای جمهوری اسلامی در سطح جهان، توسط کمپین لغو حکم اعدام سعید، به شدت عصانی است و می خواهد از سعید انتقام بگیرد و خودش را ازشر سعید خلاص کند.

خانواده سعید ماسوری از شما استمداد می طلبد. به جمهوری اسلامی و رهبران آن فشار بیاورید، تا سعید را به بند خودش برگرداند. همچنین خانواده سعید، سردرگمند و خواستار این هستند که سعید از بلاتلکیفی خلاص شود و مسولین امر، لغو حکم اعدام سعید را علنآ، اعلام کنند. توقف حکم اعدام سعید، به دنبال حمایت شما از کمپین نجات جان سعید صورت گرفت، اینبار هم سعید، برای نجات جانش، به حمایت و فشار شما به رهبران جمهوری اسلامی نیاز دارد

Request for President Khatami to order the eradication of Saeed Masouri’s death sentence

As you are aware, the Islamic Republic of Iran has detained Saeed Masouri, along with thousands of other innocent people, in a barbarian prison system, for alleged “crimes”.

The Iranian government has attempted repeatedly to force Mr. Masouri to confess and denounce his “crimes” against the Republic on national television. Saeed Masouri is not the only prisoner in this predicament, for others, such as Pourzand, an experienced journalist, have been persuaded to condemn crimes they did not commit. The Islamic Republic of Iran relies on these televised “interviews” for its continued support and existence.

The only reward Saeed Masouri will receive for his refusal to participate in this televised “puppet show”, is his death. His refusal also prompted the High Court of Iran to approve the death penalty in his case (branch 6 of Revolutionary Court).

As a member of the writing community and as a human being opposed to the death penalty, I implore you to formally present this matter to President Khatami, and through diplomatic negotiation, obtain a full pardon for Saeed Masouri. Hopefully, your humanitarian efforts will aid in saving Saeed Masouri’s life and in bringing peace to him and his family (in Iran and Sweden).

It has come to my attention that, last week in Tehran, Iran, my cousin Saeed Masouri who was charged for death penalty has been confirmed by the High Council of Judiciary of the Islamic regime of Iran.

Saeed Masouri was born in Khormabad, Iran in 1966. He was sympathizer of Mojahedin (a political group which fights against the Islamic regime in Iran) and he was arrested on beginning of January 2001 on Dazfool a town on south of Iran. He is on the famous prison Evin in Tehran.

Now his family is desperate to save his life and needs any help they can get. So we are asking you to help us to do anything that is possible in our power to make the Islamic Republic cancel his death penalty.
